Bhubaneswar, September 1, 2025 : Marking the celebration of Local Self-Governance Day, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Majhi, unveiled a set of transformative digital initiatives by Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) to enhance urban mobility and promote digital adoption among commuters.

In a landmark step toward building a seamless, accessible, and tech-enabled public transport system, the Chief Minister launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) in Odisha. This all-in-one interoperable smart card allows citizens to travel across various modes of transport with a single digital payment system, making commuting more convenient and cashless.
Furthering its commitment to commuter convenience, CRUT introduced a WhatsApp-based ticketing service for ‘Ama Bus’, enabling passengers to book bus tickets effortlessly via their smartphones—anytime, anywhere.
As part of this digital transformation, special discounts on digital ticket purchases were also announced:
- 10% discount for all passengers using digital payments
- 15% discount for women passengers, promoting safer and more affordable travel
- Launch of Digital Passes available across all operational routes of Ama Bus, simplifying regular travel for daily commuters
Speaking at the launch event, the Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasized the role of technology in democratizing access to public services:
“On this Local Self-Governance Day, we reaffirm our commitment to citizen-centric governance. These digital mobility initiatives will not only improve ease of travel but also encourage transparency, inclusion, and sustainability in our urban transport ecosystem.”
The Chief Minister congratulated CRUT and the Housing & Urban Development Department for driving forward these people-first innovations. He also urged citizens to embrace digital tools that make services more efficient and accountable.
These initiatives are part of a broader effort by the Government of Odisha to integrate digital governance into daily public services and promote inclusive urban development across the state.
