Odisha Paksha 2025: Celebrating ‘Barnabodha Utsav’ on 7th April

7th April 2025: As part of the ongoing Odisha Paksha 2025 celebrations, Odisha’s Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, has announced the observance of ‘Barnabodha Utsav’ on 7th April 2025. This day will be dedicated to promoting and celebrating the Odia language and its rich cultural heritage.

The Barnabodha Utsav will focus on distributing the iconic “Barnabodha” book to Odia children, marking the beginning of their formal education in the Odia language. This book is a symbolic educational milestone for children and an important part of their early learning journey. It represents the first steps towards literacy in the mother tongue, fostering a deeper connection with the language from a young age.

Chief Minister Majhi’s call for the celebration is a significant move towards reinforcing the relevance of Odia in modern education while preserving its cultural significance. By encouraging the younger generation to embrace Odia from the start of their educational journey, the government aims to ensure that the language thrives and remains an integral part of Odisha’s identity.

The Barnabodha Utsav will feature a variety of educational activities, including performances, workshops, and storytelling sessions, all centered around Odia language and culture. The event aims to unite students, teachers, and families, creating a collective effort to celebrate and promote the language.

Through this initiative, the Odisha government seeks to not only highlight the importance of Odia but also encourage its continued growth in educational settings, both within the state and beyond. The Barnabodha Utsav serves as a reminder of the pride that comes with speaking and preserving one’s mother tongue, contributing to a vibrant, multicultural society.

This celebration of the Barnabodha Utsav under Odia Paksha 2025 will be a stepping stone in the journey of spreading love for the language, while preserving the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of Odisha for future generations.
