Planned Urban Development Discussed on Day Two of Collector–SP Review Meet

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: On the second day of the joint meeting of the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police, discussions were held on planned development related to new roads, land development, waste management, and public amenities in urban areas.

Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Honorable Minister of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, discussed steps for resolving issues of slum dwellers, providing affordable housing, slum-free urbanization, integrating urban peripheral areas into town planning schemes, waste management, construction of goshalas for stray cattle, and development of planned market complexes.

On the other hand, Smt. Usha Padhi, Principal Secretary, emphasized the development of integrated plans for the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip economic corridor, along with urban development in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Gopalpur. She advised maintaining green spaces in urban development, implementing an online system called ‘Suyog’ to provide urban amenities, and working toward the formation of slum-free urban regions by March 2026.
