Puri, 18th Sept 2025: Manobrat Satapathy, serving as the Traffic DSP in Puri, displayed a compassionate gesture by personally transporting an injured woman to the hospital in his own vehicle. After ensuring she reached the medical facility, he also inquired with the doctors about her treatment. His humane act has been widely appreciated by the public and various circles.
The event took place after a second-phase training program for police officers at the Brahmagiri Block Conference Hall, aimed at enhancing awareness about traffic rule enforcement, accident prevention, and providing prompt medical aid to accident victims. During this program, DSP Manobrat also gave training on how to provide first aid to accident victims.
After the program concluded at around 4 PM, DSP Manobrat was returning from Puri when he witnessed an accident near Goruala Chhak. A woman and a young man were traveling on a motorcycle when they suddenly lost control due to a pothole or obstruction and fell. The woman sustained serious injuries, while the young man received minor wounds. The woman was in no condition to sit on the bike and be taken to the hospital.
Local residents were trying to help when DSP Manobrat, who was passing by, immediately stopped his vehicle, rescued the woman, and rushed her to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
His act of kindness has drawn praise from the public in Puri. While people often view the police with skepticism, DSP Manobrat’s actions have become a source of inspiration for other police officers and personnel, according to intellectuals and observers.
