Rain Alert in Odisha Till July 17: Yellow Warning Issued for 3 Districts

Bhubaneswar, July 12, 2025 – A cyclonic circulation active at an altitude of 5.8 km over southern Jharkhand, northern Chhattisgarh, and nearby regions is expected to bring widespread rainfall across Odisha over the coming days.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, light to moderate rainfall will continue across most districts of the state until July 17. On Saturday, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in some areas.

In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Warning for Nuapada, Sundargarh, and Mayurbhanj districts, where intense showers are expected.

In addition, a thunderstorm alert with lightning has been issued for Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Cuttack.

Residents in the warned districts are advised to remain cautious, avoid open fields during thunderstorms, and follow local administration advisories to ensure safety.
