Kotpad,, April 04: Gaurang Nayak, a retired soldier from Kotpad, has been conferred with the “Veteran Achiever” honor. This recognition is awarded by the Indian Army to retired personnel who have long and distinguished service experience.
On this occasion, he was presented with a medal and a certificate by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. It is reported that Gaurang Nayak was deeply emotional upon receiving this honor. According to him, after serving the nation in the Indian Army for many years, he received this kind of recognition only after his retirement.
As per information, Gaurang Nayak is the only retired army personnel from Odisha to have received this honor. He hails from Dhamanahandi village under Kotpad block. After retiring from the army, he, along with some fellow ex-servicemen, started a physical academy (military training center) in the Kotpad area.
At this academy, more than a hundred local youths are being provided free daily training. Along with physical training, they are also given written (academic) coaching. Around 40 or more trainees from this academy have successfully joined the state police and central security forces.
It is said that due to his selfless service in providing free training to the youth, he has received this recognition. Following this achievement, congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Gaurang Nayak from various quarters.
