Jeypore,23rd Aug 2025: The Jay Nagar road under Jeypore Municipality has turned into a death trap. Every day, hundreds of people travel on this road, which has become so dilapidated that residents are unable to step out of their houses or open shops and markets.
Jay Nagar has a population of over 15,000 people, yet the situation has worsened due to negligence by departmental officials and the contractor. The road stretch from Laxmi Panda Chhak to Panchanan Temple leading to Jay Nagar remains incomplete. The deadline for the work expired in November last year, but no progress has been made since then.
Expressing their anger, Jay Nagar residents along with the BJD have warned of a protest movement. Former BJD MLA Ravi Narayan Nanda said that an agitation will be launched on Saturday to press for action.
