‘Shakti Appa’ Initiative Expanded to All Districts

Bhubaneswar,4th Aug 2025: The Shaktishree scheme will be expedited, and the safety of girl students will be ensured. For this purpose, five women officers in each district will be appointed as ‘Shakti Appa’. These officers will raise awareness among students in all educational institutions within their districts.

They will provide guidance on women empowerment and safety. Letters regarding this have already been sent to all District Collectors by the Higher Education Department today.

District Collectors to Select 5 Women Officers by August 20

District Collectors have been instructed to select 5 women officers to serve as Shakti Appas. These officers will visit educational institutions once every three months and interact with students. They will receive TA/DA (Travel and Daily Allowance) for their visits.

The 5-member team will include:

  • At least one woman social worker experienced in the fields of women and child protection.
  • Retired women government officers may also be included.
  • Special preference will be given to retired officers from police or armed forces.
  • Experts in law or cybersecurity will also be considered.
  • Health specialists or psychologists with expertise in women’s health or mental issues may be included.
  • Experts from the education sector may also be appointed.
