Similipal Declared as Odisha’s Largest National Park- A Major Boost to Conservation and Tribal Development

25th April 2025: In a landmark step toward environmental sustainability and inclusive development, Similipal has officially been declared a National Park, becoming the 107th National Park in India and the largest in Odisha, covering an area of 845.70 square kilometers.

This long-awaited designation not only enhances the protection of Similipal’s rich biodiversity but also marks a significant milestone in Odisha’s ecological journey. Known for its dense forests, unique flora and fauna, and vibrant tribal culture, Similipal’s elevation to national park status is expected to attract increased conservation efforts, eco-tourism, and research opportunities.

The move also resonates with the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Odisha, aligning environmental priorities with the aspirations of local tribal communities and reaffirming the state’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.
