New Delhi, July 14, 2025 – Making history, Sonali Mishra, a 1993-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) — becoming the first woman ever to hold the top post in the force’s history.
With a distinguished service record, Mishra brings decades of experience in policing, intelligence, and administrative roles. Her appointment marks a significant milestone in gender representation in India’s security forces, particularly in the RPF, which plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of railway passengers and property.
Her elevation to the post of DG is being widely hailed as a progressive step and an inspiration for women officers across the country.
