Bhubaneswar,11th Aug 2025: This year, Autonomous Governance Day will be celebrated in grand style across 115 urban areas of the state, with the inauguration and foundation-laying of hundreds of projects. For this, week-long programmes will be organised from August 25 to 30. Ministers of various departments, MLAs, municipal representatives, and chairpersons will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for the projects.
On August 31, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will present a “big gift” to the urban residents, according to the Housing and Urban Development Department. The department has instructed all urban bodies to celebrate the occasion with the public and make it memorable for everyone. Lists have been sought from each municipality specifying which projects will be inaugurated or launched in their area.
Major projects will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister and the Urban Development Minister on August 31, while other projects will be inaugurated between August 25 and 30 as part of the scheduled events. The week-long celebrations will focus on involving more local people, laying the foundation stones for much-demanded projects, and carrying out extensive plantation drives under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign.
The programme will also include the launch of the Green Green Ward campaign, encouraging community participation, strengthening sanitation systems, honouring sanitation workers, and engaging people in the Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Ghar Swachhta campaign. There will also be street festivals to promote community entertainment, healthy lifestyles, and youth-oriented activities.
