Bhubaneswar, June 12: The Bikash Mela 2025 was inaugurated on Wednesday at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, marking the first anniversary of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s government. The weeklong event aims to highlight the achievements of the administration and raise public awareness about various development schemes.

In his inaugural address, Chief Minister Majhi reflected on the journey of the past year. “A year ago, the people of Odisha placed their hopes and aspirations in our hands by choosing change in governance. Since then, we have worked with unwavering commitment to fulfill those expectations,” he said. “This one year has been a year of challenges and determination. Across multiple sectors, we have made significant progress and translated our promises into real outcomes.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Bikash Mela serves not only as a celebration of the government’s progress but also as a platform to inform citizens about ongoing schemes, their objectives, and how they can benefit. “By learning about these achievements and schemes, the people can truly become beneficiaries and partners in building a prosperous and developed Odisha,” he added.
Among the government’s key accomplishments over the past year are a crackdown on corruption, direct engagement with the public, farmer support initiatives, and youth empowerment measures — including raising the age limit for government job applicants to 42 years. Special emphasis has also been placed on inclusive development, particularly targeting women, youth, farmers, and tribal communities. The Utkarsh Odisha 2025 initiative was launched to attract massive investments and spur sustainable growth.
Running until June 18, the Mela features over 75 departmental stalls showcasing welfare schemes, entrepreneurship opportunities, and Odisha’s rich handloom and handicraft heritage. A food festival organized by Subhadra Shakti women’s groups features more than 40 stalls offering traditional Odia cuisine, adding cultural flavor to the developmental celebration.
The Bikash Mela 2025 is not just a milestone, but a message — that governance can be transformative when anchored in transparency, commitment, and public participation.
