State Raises Uniform Budget for Anganwadi Kids to Ensure Better Quality

Bhubaneswar Feb, 3: Under the Malati Devi Pre-School Uniform Scheme, Anganwadi children will now receive higher-quality uniforms. The State Government has approved a revision in the cost of uniforms and winter clothing provided to children.

The Odisha Government has sanctioned an increase in the unit cost of uniforms, shoes, socks, and sweaters provided to pre-school children aged 3 to 6 years enrolled in Anganwadi centres. The revision has been made in view of the continuous rise in fabric prices, stitching costs, and transportation expenses, as well as to maintain the quality of clothing and related items supplied to young children.

As per the approved decision:

The cost of boys’ uniforms has been increased from ₹100 to ₹175.
The cost of girls’ uniforms has been increased from ₹150 to ₹225.
The cost of shoes and socks has been raised from ₹100 to ₹150.
The winter clothing allowance has been increased from ₹150 to ₹200.
The revised rates will come into effect from the financial year 2026–27.
With this enhancement, nearly 14.76 lakh pre-school children enrolled in 74,224 Anganwadi centres across the state will benefit. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed that the additional expenditure will be fully borne by the State Government.
