Bhubaneswar, 2nd Aug 2025: The quality of uniforms being distributed to schoolchildren will now be verified. The government will ensure that high-quality uniforms are provided. Even the stitching of the uniforms must be proper. If there are any lapses in these aspects, strict action will be taken.
According to the circular, the government provides free uniforms to students from Class 1 to Class 10. All schools are supplied with uniforms through SHGs (Self-Help Groups) and MSME units. However, it has been instructed that the quality of uniforms provided by various agencies must be checked.
Strict Action for Poor Quality Cloth
Suppliers to be Blacklisted
If the uniforms supplied are of poor quality, the concerned SHG or MSME unit will be blacklisted. Moreover, strict action will be taken against them, and they will be barred from participating in future uniform distribution tenders. Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has sent letters to all District Collectors regarding this.
OSEPA has issued directions to ensure:
The school headmasters, CRCCs (Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators), Block Education Officers, and District Education Officers will be responsible for verifying the quality of the uniforms.
Not only uniforms but also items like house uniforms, shoes, and caps will undergo inspection for quality assurance.
To make sure the checks are carried out properly, OSEPA has instructed all District Collectors accordingly.
