Timely Action by Sub-Collector Saves Lives of Three Injured in Accident

Nandapur, 13th Oct 2025:  Koraput Sub-Collector Premlal Hial, while returning from an official visit to Nandapur, rescued three injured individuals from a bike accident near Kharaguda, under Semiliguda Police Station. He also ensured they received proper medical treatment at the Nandapur Community Health Centre.

The injured were identified as:

Ratan Pangi (32),

His daughter Rahel (11), and

His brother-in-law Kusha Bairagi (21),
all from Dumuriput village under Umbel Panchayat.

According to sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the Sub-Collector was on his way back to Koraput from Nandapur. Near the Kharaguda petrol pump, a dog suddenly ran onto the road, causing the bike carrying Ratan, his daughter, and brother-in-law to lose balance and crash.

Upon witnessing the accident, the Sub-Collector immediately stopped his vehicle, got down, and—along with his driver and others—helped rescue the injured. He personally transported them around 20 kilometers to the Nandapur Community Health Centre for treatment.

Nandapur Tahsildar Debabrata Maharana also reached the health centre and discussed the patients’ condition with the attending doctors. After receiving medical attention, doctors confirmed that all three were stable and recovering well.

Ratan expressed his gratitude to the Sub-Collector for his timely help and support.
