Women SHGs Launch ‘Niaara Rakhi Sambhar’ to Promote Handmade Rakhis in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur, 7th Aug 2025: A unique ‘Niaara Rakhi Sambhar’ sales centre, showcasing and selling eco-friendly handmade rakhis, has been inaugurated near the Nabarangpur Tehsil Office. The initiative has been launched in collaboration with ORMAS and led by local women self-help groups (SHGs).

Women from Dhanalakshmi, Bhairavi, and Mahima SHGs of Kosagumuda block prepared these rakhis using natural and biodegradable materials, aligning with sustainable and environment-friendly practices.

The sales centre was inaugurated by Rangapara MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi and District Collector Dr. Maheswar Swain, who encouraged the women for their craftsmanship and efforts.

In his address, the MLA appealed to the public to buy these locally made rakhis to support women’s economic empowerment and prosperity.

This initiative highlights women’s entrepreneurship, skill development, and a push towards eco-conscious festive products.
