7-Km Farewell Procession Turns Emotional as School Community Honours Headmaster with Music, Dance and Heartfelt Tributes

Nandapur,Sept 15 [UDN}:: In a heartwarming farewell, villagers, parents and school authorities bid an emotional farewell to Pitambar Nayak, the headmaster of Kumbhiguda Primary School under Kularsingh Gram Panchayat in Nandapur block of Koraput district, on his retirement.

The farewell ceremony was marked by traditional music, dancing and singing, reflecting the deep affection and respect the villagers and students had for the retiring teacher. A felicitation meeting was organised on the school premises to honour his dedicated service and contribution to the education of children in the area.

Following the meeting, a grand procession was taken out in his honour. Men and women from the village, youth groups, parents and students joined the procession with musical instruments and songs. The headmaster and his family were accompanied for nearly 7 kilometres, with the procession eventually reaching the main road where the villagers gave him an emotional send-off.

Pitambar Nayak had served at Kumbhiguda Primary School from November 20, 2021, to August 31, 2026. During his tenure, his guidance and efforts helped several students achieve success in competitive entrance examinations. Two students qualified for Navodaya Vidyalaya, three students qualified for Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and two students secured admission through the entrance examination for Adarsha Vidyalaya. Several other students also reportedly performed well in the third- and fifth-grade scholarship examinations.

A day before his retirement, Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, in the presence of district and block education officials, felicitated Pitambar Nayak and acknowledged his contribution as a dedicated and good teacher.

Block Education Officer Bhavani Nandan Patnaik and Assistant Education Officer Rajanikanta Badanayak also extended their best wishes to Nayak, praying for a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling retired life.

The farewell, filled with music, dance and the participation of the entire community, became a memorable tribute to a teacher who had earned a special place in the hearts of his students and villagers.
