Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival Begins in Nabarangpur with Vibrant Performances, Cultural Unity, and Enthusiastic Public Participation

Nabarangpur, May 26:  A two-day “Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival” has commenced at Sai Kalyan Mandap on May 27 and 28, 2026, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and organized by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Kolkata.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he stated that the cultural heritage of Nabarangpur district, along with the support extended to local artists, has greatly enriched the district’s folk dance, traditional musical instruments, and folk music traditions.
Among the distinguished guests present were Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, District Child Welfare Officer Suresh Pattnaik, and District Culture Officer Ghasia Harijan.

The organizers stated that the “Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival,” launched under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister through the Ministry of Culture and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, aims to promote the vision of a developed India while preserving and glorifying the rich cultural heritage, dance, and music traditions of India and Odisha. Through this festival, artist groups from Nabarangpur district are getting an opportunity to showcase their traditional dance forms and cultural heritage.

The event highlights the district’s unique art, culture, folk dances, and musical traditions, which are expected to further strengthen the spirit of “Amrit Kaal.” The festival is being conducted over two days with the support of the district administration.

On the inaugural evening, several cultural groups presented traditional dance performances, including:

Odissi Music and Dance Group
District Cultural Association, Nabarangpur
Sonu Majhi Dhemsa Dance Group, Dabugaon
Nabajhankaar Youth Organization, Nabarangpur
Shelodi Dance Group, Gopal Guda, Jharigram
Rinyodi Dance Group, Tentulikhunti

The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre is also providing financial assistance to the participating artist groups. The Nabarangpur administration has extended its support to the initiatives of the Kolkata-based Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre to encourage local artists.

On this occasion, several gurus and senior cultural personalities were also felicitated.
The stage proceedings were anchored by G.V.B. Ranjita on behalf of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, while Bibhu Prasad Mishra coordinated the overall programme.
