Bhubaneswar, Aug 3 [UDN}:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has projected that rainfall across the country during the month of August is likely to remain below the long-period average (normal rainfall). According to the department’s latest monthly forecast, most parts of India are expected to receive less rainfall than usual, although some regions may continue to experience localized heavy showers due to changing weather systems.
The IMD stated that while the southwest monsoon will remain active, the overall rainfall for August is expected to be lower than the seasonal average. Weather experts have advised farmers, state governments, and disaster management authorities to closely monitor daily weather updates and make necessary preparations, especially in areas dependent on monsoon rains for agriculture.
A below-normal rainfall pattern in August could affect crop growth, water availability, and reservoir levels in several regions if the deficit persists. However, the IMD emphasized that rainfall distribution may vary significantly from one region to another, with some places receiving normal or even above-normal showers despite the overall national forecast.
