Bhubaneswar,Aug 22 [UDN}:The Odisha government has announced an ambitious plan to transform rural areas by providing villages with facilities and infrastructure comparable to those available in urban centres. Under the initiative, each Gram Panchayat will receive a development package of ₹3 crore, aimed at improving basic amenities, strengthening local infrastructure and enhancing the overall quality of life for rural residents.
The proposed plan focuses on bringing modern, city-like facilities closer to people living in villages. The funds are expected to be utilized for upgrading essential public infrastructure and improving services that directly benefit rural communities. The initiative is intended to reduce the gap between urban and rural areas by ensuring that villagers have access to better roads, sanitation, drinking water, lighting, community facilities and other necessary amenities.
With a dedicated ₹3-crore allocation for every Panchayat, the government seeks to accelerate grassroots-level development and ensure that development reaches every village. The programme is also expected to strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions and enable local authorities to undertake projects according to the specific needs and priorities of their respective areas.
The government’s vision is to create better living conditions in rural Odisha while promoting balanced and inclusive development across the state. By providing urban-style amenities in villages, the initiative aims to make rural areas more developed, comfortable and self-sufficient, while improving access to essential services for residents.
Overall, the ₹3-crore-per-Panchayat plan is being projected as a major step towards modernizing villages, strengthening rural infrastructure and creating urban-like facilities in the countryside, with the broader objective of building more developed and livable rural communities.
