Raighar:June 16: A special meeting was held in the tribal village of Dumurimunda under Raighar Block in Nabarangpur district, bringing together people from six Gram Panchayats of Zone No. 3. The meeting was organized with the objective of protecting religious values and social-cultural traditions.
Intellectuals, villagers, and prominent members of society from different Panchayats participated in the gathering and shared their views. Speakers stated that the tribal community has been worshipping its traditional deities and following its indigenous beliefs and customs for generations. Concerns were raised that certain individuals were allegedly encouraging religious conversion by offering various inducements and temptations.
Participants discussed the need for awareness and preventive measures, noting that such activities could create social unrest within the community. The meeting also emphasized the importance of health awareness. People were urged to seek advice from government health centers and qualified medical professionals when ill, rather than relying on superstition or misleading guidance.
The discussion further focused on women’s higher education, economic self-reliance, financial savings, and the importance of avoiding false promises related to jobs and employment opportunities.
It was resolved that if, in the future, any unscrupulous individuals attempt to facilitate religious conversion through illegal means or inducements, the matter would be brought to the attention of the administration and reported to the District Collector for appropriate action.
The speakers also called upon all members of society to unite in preserving Indian culture, traditions, and their religious heritage. The meeting concluded with a collective pledge to work together for social development, educational advancement, and greater public awareness within the community.
