Cyclone Arnab Disruptions Prompt MP Saptagiri Ulaka to Urge OPSC Chairman to Postpone Odisha Civil Services Mains Examination for Candidates’ Safety

Koraput, Oct 29 [UDN}:  Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka has written to Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Chairman Arun Kumar Sarangi, urging the commission to postpone the upcoming OPSC Civil Services Mains Examination in view of the difficulties faced by candidates due to Cyclone Arnab.

In his letter, the Koraput MP highlighted the challenges confronting candidates appearing at the Jeypore examination centre, particularly those travelling from the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur. Cyclone-related disruptions, including transportation difficulties and interruptions in electricity supply, have created serious inconveniences for aspirants preparing to appear for the examination.

The cancellation of train services, including the Hirakhand Express, has further aggravated the transportation problems, making it difficult for candidates to reach their designated examination centres on time.

With the OPSC Civil Services Mains Examination scheduled to commence on October 31, the MP has requested the commission to consider postponing the examination either at the Jeypore centre or across the entire examination schedule to ensure that candidates are not disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control.

The appeal seeks to ensure fairness and provide candidates from cyclone-affected districts with adequate opportunities to appear for the prestigious state civil services examination without facing additional hardships caused by the natural disaster.
