Bhubaneswar, April 15: The 2026–27 academic year has already begun. However, the transfer process for secondary school teachers for the 2025–26 academic year is still incomplete, and the transfer portal for the current year has not yet been opened.
Although there are instructions every year to open the online transfer portal in February and complete the entire process by mid-June, these guidelines are not being properly followed, alleged NPS Teachers’ Association President Pradipta Kumar Pradhan.
He stated that despite fixed timelines, delays in the transfer process occur every year. This has a significant impact on the daily lives of teachers. Many teachers are posted 500 to 600 km away from their homes, forcing them to stay away from their elderly and ailing parents.
As a result, they are facing severe mental stress and family-related difficulties. Considering this issue seriously, the association has urged the Chief Minister and the School and Mass Education Minister to direct the department to immediately open the online transfer portal.
