Nabarangpur: Aug 10 [UDN}:With the objective of celebrating Independence Day 2026 with enthusiasm, patriotism and a strong sense of national unity, the Nabarangpur district administration has taken several initiatives to ensure the widespread observance of the district-level ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ programmes.
Speaking at a press conference, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Barman briefed the media about the various measures undertaken by the district administration for the successful implementation of these programmes. He said that the administration has appealed to the people to actively participate in the campaign and transform it into a mass movement.
The primary objective of the campaign is to strengthen the spirit of national unity, patriotism and respect for the National Flag while involving students, youth, women members of Self-Help Groups, government employees and the general public.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme will be organised across all Panchayat Samitis, Gram Panchayats and urban areas of the district. In coordination with the district administration, the programmes will be conducted with the support of various departments, block administrations, municipal authorities, educational institutions, Self-Help Groups and different social organisations.
Special emphasis has been placed on coordination, timely implementation and maximum public participation at the block and urban levels.
National flags prepared by women members of Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) in the district had been delivered to all concerned block and municipal administrative offices by August 8. These flags will be made available to the public, encouraging people to hoist the Tricolour at their homes.
A massive Tiranga Rally will be organised tomorrow, August 10, at 7:00 AM, starting from the local Dr. Sadashiv Park and proceeding to the District Collector’s Office. Around 4,000 to 5,000 students, teachers, government employees, youths and members of the general public are expected to participate in the rally.
At the District Collector’s Office premises, an attractive Tiranga-themed rangoli exhibition will also be organised by WSHG women and students.
On August 12 at 7:00 AM, a Tiranga Bike Rally will be organised through the major roads of Nabarangpur town with the objective of fostering patriotism, national unity and a sense of responsibility among the youth. All participants will be required to strictly follow traffic regulations and safety guidelines during the rally.
On August 14, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be observed at Nabarangpur Nodal College. The programme will include a two-minute silent prayer, screening of a short film and a candlelight march in the evening. The event will pay tribute to those who lost their lives or were displaced during the Partition and create awareness among the younger generation about this significant historical event.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, various government buildings, hospitals, prominent junctions, statues and tourist destinations across the district will be decorated with Tricolour illumination, arches and other decorative arrangements.
For the safe and disciplined conduct of all programmes, the police department will make arrangements for law and order, traffic regulation and crowd management. Necessary arrangements for fire safety, ambulances, medical services and uninterrupted power supply will also be ensured.
The Additional District Magistrate emphasised that ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is not merely a government programme; it represents the patriotism, national pride and unity of every citizen of the country. He therefore appealed to people from all sections of society in Nabarangpur district, particularly youth, students, Self-Help Groups, social organisations and voluntary organisations, to actively participate in the campaign.
He also sought the active cooperation of the media in taking the message of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ to every household and family across the district.
The press conference was attended by representatives of the district-level print and electronic media, along with Sub-Collector, Nabarangpur Prakash Kumar Mishra; District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera; District Culture Officer Ghasia Harijan; and Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer Satya Narayan Pradhan, among others.
