Bhubaneswar, Aug. 31 (UDN): To manage the surge in passenger traffic during the festive season, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the temporary addition of extra coaches to several train services operating from Odisha.
The augmentation will be effective on different trains between September 1 and October 2, 2026, covering key routes linking Odisha with Bengaluru, Delhi, Tirupati, Jagdalpur, Rayagada, Gunupur, Shalimar and other destinations. The move is expected to increase seat availability and ease travel during the high-demand period.
Trains receiving additional coaches
1. Bhubaneswar–KSR Bengaluru: Train No. 18463 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 1 to 30.
2. KSR Bengaluru–Bhubaneswar: Train No. 18464 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 2 to October 1.
3. Bhubaneswar–Anand Vihar: Train No. 12820 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 4 to October 2 on selected days.
4. Anand Vihar–Bhubaneswar: Train No. 12819 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 2 to 30 on selected days.
5. Bhubaneswar–Tirupati: Train No. 22880 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 6 to 27 on selected days.
6. Tirupati–Bhubaneswar: Train No. 22879 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 5 to 26 on selected days.
7. Sambalpur–Rayagada: Train No. 18302 will have one additional AC Chair Car coach from September 1 to 30.
8. Rayagada–Sambalpur: Train No. 18301 will have one additional AC Chair Car coach from September 1 to 30.
9. Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur: Train No. 18448 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 2 to October 1.
10. Jagdalpur–Bhubaneswar: Train No. 18447 will have one additional 3AC coach from September 1 to 30.
11. Puri–Gunupur: Train No. 18418 will have one additional AC Chair Car coach from September 2 to October 1.
12. Gunupur–Puri: Train No. 18417 will have one additional AC Chair Car coach from September 1 to 30.
13. Sambalpur–Shalimar: Train No. 20831 will have one additional Sleeper coach from September 2 to 30 on selected days.
14. Shalimar–Sambalpur: Train No. 20832 will have one additional Sleeper coach from September 1 to 29 on selected days.
15. Bhubaneswar–Purunakatak: Train No. 12894 will have two additional General (UR) coaches from September 2 to October 1.
16. Purunakatak–Bhubaneswar: Train No. 12893 will have two additional General (UR) coaches from September 1 to 30.
Relief for festive travellers
According to ECoR, the temporary coach augmentation has been introduced to meet the seasonal rise in passenger demand and improve seat availability on some of the region’s busiest long-distance and intercity routes.
Passengers planning to travel during September have been advised to check the coach composition and train schedule before booking or commencing their journey, as some additional coaches will be available only on nominated operating days.
