Focus on boosting farmers’ income as key meeting discusses easy marketing of Kandhamal turmeric with top प्रशासन officials.

Bhubaneswar, April 22:  A significant review meeting was held under the joint chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary of the Cooperation Department and the District Collector to facilitate easy marketing of turmeric produced in Kandhamal district.
Under the State Government’s assured support price (SASP) scheme, steps have been taken for the procurement and value addition of Kandhamal turmeric through a “Hub and Spoke” model.
In this regard, plans have been made to provide farmers with facilities such as free storage and pledge loans (against stored produce) through LAMPCS, Women Self-Help Groups, and RMCs.
Additionally, it has been proposed to provide incentives for processing directly to farmers’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
