Gunupur Marks Lawyers’ Day and Madhu Babu Jayanti with Cultural Programs, Tributes, and Discussions on Legal Awareness

Gunupur, May 05:: Lawyers’ Day and the birth anniversary of Madhu Babu were celebrated by the Gunupur Bar Association in the court .
On this occasion, members of the Bar Association and judicial officers paid floral tributes to the statue of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das, remembering his immense contributions and sacrifices for Odisha.
The program was attended by Radhakrishna Pattanaik as the chief guest. District and Sessions Judge of Rayagada, Damodar Rath, joined as the chief speaker, while Tapan Kumar Biswal attended as an honoured guest.
A ceremonial procession with traditional tribal dance and music was organized from Court Square to welcome the guests. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the singing of “Bande Utkala Janani.”
The meeting was presided over by Bar Association President Ramesh Chandra Lima, while former president Uma Charan Pattanaik delivered the welcome address. Secretary Suraj Patra presented the annual report highlighting various issues and challenges faced by the association.
In his address, Justice Radhakrishna Pattanaik urged lawyers to be inspired by the ideals of Madhu Babu and work towards ensuring justice for the poor and underprivileged sections of society.
Several senior lawyers including Rajendra Padhi, Uma Charan Pattanaik, Brahmananda Pattanaik, Gadadhar Panda, Indira Padhi, Durga Prasad Manipatra, and Phani Bhushan Pattanaik were felicitated for their significant contributions.
The event was also attended by ADJ Debadatta Pattanaik, Sub-Judge Sumitra Sahu, SDJM Bijayalakshmi Mahapatra, along with government lawyers, intellectuals, and social workers.
The program was conducted by young advocates Prashant Pattanaik, Sasmita Patra, Mihir Pattanaik, Lilabati Pradhani, Jyotirmayi Shabar, and Chinari Basudha Rani.
Additionally, a tribal dance group from Alumguda led by Laxman Shabar was honoured by the guests during the celebration.
