Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 [UDN}:The Odisha Tejaswini Mahila Sangathan organised a free health camp at Raipur Gram Panchayat under Dhamnagar Block to provide medical assistance to people affected by the recent floods. The initiative was undertaken with the objective of extending timely healthcare services to vulnerable families who have been facing difficulties in accessing regular medical facilities due to the flood situation.
During the health camp, flood-affected residents were provided with free medical consultations and basic healthcare services. Medical professionals and volunteers attended to the patients, assessed their health conditions and offered necessary advice regarding treatment, hygiene and preventive care. People suffering from common illnesses and health problems arising in the aftermath of flooding were given appropriate guidance and support.
The organisers also emphasised the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, consuming safe drinking water and taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of water-borne and other seasonal diseases in flood-affected areas. Residents were advised to remain alert about symptoms of illness and seek medical attention promptly whenever required.
The initiative by the Odisha Tejaswini Mahila Sangathan was widely appreciated by the local community. The free health camp provided much-needed medical support to families affected by the flood and demonstrated the organisation’s commitment to standing beside people during difficult times. Such community-based healthcare initiatives are particularly important during natural disasters, when transportation and access to hospitals and health centres can be disrupted.
The programme also highlighted the important role played by women-led social organisations in extending relief and humanitarian support at the grassroots level. Through the health camp, the Odisha Tejaswini Mahila Sangathan contributed to the ongoing efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of flood-affected residents of Raipur Panchayat and the surrounding areas.
