Heavy Rain Forecast: Schools Closed in Subarnapur and Kendrapara as Safety Precaution

Bhubaneswar, July 27 (UDN): Schools and Anganwadi centres in Odisha’s Subarnapur district have been closed as a precautionary measure following forecasts of heavy rainfall due to a deep depression affecting the region.

The Subarnapur district administration announced a holiday for all government and private schools, along with Anganwadi centres, to ensure the safety of students and children amid the expected adverse weather conditions.

In Kendrapara district, all government and private schools from Class 1 to Class 12 have also been ordered to remain closed due to the heavy rain forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The district administration took the decision after the area was placed on high alert following a red warning for intense rainfall.

Authorities have advised parents, guardians and school managements to ensure children remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying and waterlogged areas. Emergency teams and district officials have been placed on alert to respond to any weather-related challenges.

The administrations of both districts are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to follow safety advisories during the period of heavy rainfall.
