Bhubaneswar, Sept 30 [UDN}:A high-level meeting was held to discuss measures for tackling heatwaves and urban flooding, along with the modernisation of stormwater drainage systems in urban areas.
The meeting was chaired by Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the concerned department. Discussions focused on strengthening preparedness and response mechanisms for extreme weather conditions and improving the efficiency of rainwater drainage infrastructure in urban areas.
The meeting also reviewed the need for modern, effective and sustainable drainage arrangements to ensure the timely disposal of rainwater and minimise waterlogging and flood-related problems in cities.
