Jharigaon, April 29: World Malaria Day was observed at Baraguda village under the initiative of the Fupugaon Ayushman Arogya Mandir, which comes under the Jharigaon Community Health Centre.
On this occasion, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Medical Officer Dr. Biswajit Chhinnara of the Fupugaon Primary Health Centre. During the meeting, Dr. Chhinnara created awareness about the symptoms of malaria and its prevention. He advised that anyone experiencing fever should immediately contact the local ASHA worker, get their blood tested, and take necessary medication.
Public Health Extension Officer Surendra Sahu and Malaria Supervisor Sunil Patra also attended and emphasized spraying DDT in every household and using mosquito nets while sleeping. They also stressed the need for health check-ups of migrant workers returning from outside.
Local Sarpanch Chaitanya Gond administered an oath to the health workers present for malaria prevention. In the end, female health worker Basanti Banjara and male health worker Kailash Panigrahi from Fupugaon Primary Health Centre collected and tested blood samples from 69 people showing fever symptoms. However, no malaria cases were detected.
All ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and villagers actively participated in the program.
