Kantabanji,Sept 29 [UDN}:: It is a matter of pride for Balangir district and the Kantabanji region as distinguished educationist, academician, writer, social worker and legal adviser Dr Ramesh Chandra Mahanand has been honoured with the ‘Bharat Ratna Seva Samman–2026’.
The prestigious honour was conferred by ‘Helping Humans’ and ‘Darpan’ in recognition of Dr Mahanand’s contributions across the fields of education, literature, social service, law and the arts. His efforts towards providing quality education to the younger generation, promoting literary activities, working for public welfare, creating social awareness and contributing to justice-related initiatives were particularly acknowledged in the citation presented to him.
Dr Mahanand, who has served in various capacities including as an educationist and principal, has made significant contributions to the educational and social spheres of the region. His involvement in literature and public service has also earned him recognition among people associated with different sections of society.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Dr Mahanand said that he felt extremely proud and honoured to receive the recognition. He dedicated the award to his late father and beloved mother, acknowledging the important role they played in his life and journey.
He also expressed gratitude to his wife for her constant inspiration and support, while thanking his son and daughter for their cooperation and encouragement throughout his career.
