Bhubaneswar, Sept 29 [UDN}: Fishermen along the Odisha coast have been advised not to venture into the sea in view of the likely impact of a developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and the possibility of adverse weather conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), strong winds are expected to prevail over the sea, with wind speeds likely to reach 50–60 kmph. Considering the potential risk to fishing boats and crews operating in the open sea, restrictions have been issued on fishing activities.
Fishermen who are currently at sea have been directed to return to the coast by the evening of September 21. The weather department has further advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until September 24, as rough sea conditions and strong winds may continue during this period.
The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of fishermen amid the anticipated weather disturbance and associated rainfall over Odisha and adjoining coastal areas. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to issue further advisories depending on the movement and intensification of the weather system.
