Major Legal Services Reform in Odisha as State Cabinet Approves Odisha State Legal Service Cadre Rules, 2026

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 11 [UDN}:The Odisha State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved the “Odisha State Legal Service (OSLS) Cadre Rules, 2026” during its recent Cabinet meeting.

The approval marks an important step towards strengthening and streamlining the legal services framework in the state. The newly approved cadre rules are aimed at providing a structured administrative and service framework for personnel working under the Odisha State Legal Service.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, where various important proposals concerning the state administration and public welfare were considered and approved.

The OSLS Cadre Rules, 2026 are expected to bring greater clarity and uniformity to matters relating to the constitution, organisation and functioning of the legal service cadre. The rules will provide a defined framework for service-related matters and are intended to strengthen the institutional mechanism for delivering legal services across Odisha.
