Bhubaneswar, April 17: There is growing discussion among political circles in Odisha regarding a possible increase in parliamentary and seats due to the proposed delimitation exercise.
According to reports, the Central Government may introduce the Delimitation Bill 2026 during a special session scheduled from 16th to 18th. If passed, it could significantly reshape electoral representation across the country.
The total seats in the Lok Sabha may increase from 543 to around 850.
Based on this, Odisha’s Lok Sabha seats could rise from 21 to about 32.
Similarly, the number of seats in the Odisha Legislative Assembly may increase from 147 by an additional 73–74 seats.
This potential change has created a buzz among Odisha leaders, as it would alter political dynamics and representation in both Parliament and the State Assembly.
