Malkangiri:Sept 29 [UDN}: A surge in malaria cases has been reported across villages in the Bonda Hills of Malkangiri district, with malaria fever reportedly spreading from village to village and the number of affected people continuing to rise.
Amid the increasing cases, a state-level team from the Odisha Health Department visited the remote Bonda Hills to assess the ground situation and review the measures being taken to contain the spread of malaria.
During the visit, the team took stock of the malaria situation in the affected villages, examined the healthcare arrangements available to residents and reviewed the challenges faced in providing timely medical services in the difficult terrain.
The team also focused on the steps being taken by the Health Department for malaria prevention and elimination in remote and inaccessible areas. Special attention was given to disease surveillance, detection of suspected cases, treatment facilities and the availability of health services for people living in the interior Bonda region.
The Bonda Hills are among the more remote and difficult-to-access areas of Malkangiri, making regular healthcare outreach particularly challenging. The state-level assessment is expected to help strengthen malaria-control measures and ensure that affected communities receive timely medical attention.
