Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) successfully hosted the 4th edition of the Coal India CSR Conclave 2025 at Gopalpur, bringing together senior executives, CSR professionals, and key stakeholders from across Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries. The one-day event focused on evolving strategies, sharing best practices, and exploring innovative approaches to ensure impactful and inclusive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) across the country.
The conclave was inaugurated by PM Prasad, Chairman of Coal India Ltd, along with Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), CIL; Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MCL; and other dignitaries including Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) and directors from various subsidiaries.
The highlight of the event was the virtual address by Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal & Mines, who commended Coal India’s continued efforts in uplifting communities through sustainable and high-impact CSR interventions. He noted that these efforts have played a vital role in nation-building, particularly in underdeveloped and mining-affected regions.
In his keynote address, Chairman PM Prasad reiterated Coal India’s deep-rooted commitment to the three core values: People, Profit, and Planet. He underscored how these principles are integrated into the CSR strategy to ensure that social development goes hand-in-hand with economic and environmental responsibility.
He also highlighted a range of flagship CSR projects implemented by Coal India and MCL — from rural healthcare and education to skill development and environmental conservation — that are positively transforming lives across India.
Uday Anant Kaole, CMD of MCL, added that CSR is not just a regulatory requirement but a moral commitment to communities around mining areas. He emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration and community participation to ensure sustainable development that leaves no one behind.
The conclave provided a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing successful models, and reaffirming the collective goal of leveraging CSR as a tool for long-term social transformation.
As Coal India continues to play a pivotal role in powering the nation, its efforts in building resilient communities, preserving the environment, and fostering inclusive growth through CSR remain a shining example of corporate responsibility in action.
