Nabarangpur remembers Laxman Naik on his martyrdom day with floral tributes and commemorative events

Nabarangpur: April 17:  The martyrdom day of Laxman Naik, a गौरव of the tribal community and a leading hero of India’s freedom struggle, was observed with deep respect across various places in Nabarangpur district.
During the Quit India Movement in 1942, Laxman Naik bravely fought against British rule and united tribal communities. His fearless patriotism made him an enduring symbol of tribal identity and sacrifice. He was later arrested by the British and sentenced to death, but his sacrifice continues to inspire generations.
On this occasion, the district administration organized a श्रद्धांजलि सभा at Nayak School. Distinguished guests including Dr. Maheshwar Swain, Sub-Collector Khuntia, former college principal T. Behera, Zilla Parishad Chairman Kunu Naik, eminent poet Narayan Panda, and Muna Tripathy from the Shaheed Smruti Sansad paid floral tributes.
Members from various tribal communities such as Gond, Bhatra, Raj Gond, Kui, and Kondadora participated in large numbers, making the event meaningful and solemn.
