July 9 (UDN): Odisha’s industrial growth is set to gain fresh momentum as National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) and NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) have entered into a joint venture agreement to develop a 1,080 MW captive thermal power plant in Angul.
The proposed 4×270 MW power project will help meet the rising energy needs of industrial operations while strengthening the state’s power infrastructure. The initiative is expected to support economic activity, enhance energy security, and create new growth opportunities in the region.
The partnership between the two public sector enterprises marks a significant step towards expanding India’s industrial capabilities and building reliable power infrastructure to support long-term development. The project aligns with efforts to boost domestic manufacturing and strengthen the country’s energy ecosystem.
