Jeypore: Sept 21 [UDN}:With the objective of encouraging students to engage in community service and become self-reliant, Rover and Ranger Units have been launched at Vikram Dev University in Koraput district.
The initiative aims to provide students with opportunities to participate in various social-service and community-oriented activities while developing leadership, discipline, teamwork, responsibility and a spirit of service among them. Through the Rover and Ranger programme, students will be encouraged to contribute to society and acquire practical skills that can help them become responsible and self-dependent citizens.
The launch programme was attended by Vikram Dev University Vice-Chancellor Professor Hrushikesh Senapati, Registrar Maheswar Nayak, and Chairperson of the PG Council Dr Prashant Patra.
Koraput District Organising Commissioner (Scout) Pani Grahi was also present on the occasion and played a key role in the initiation of the Rover and Ranger Units.
The university authorities said that the newly established units would provide students with a platform to participate in social-service activities and programmes aimed at community welfare. The initiative is also expected to strengthen the connection between higher education and social responsibility by motivating students to actively contribute to the development of society.
The Rover and Ranger programme will provide students with opportunities to develop leadership qualities, a sense of discipline and cooperation, along with the spirit of serving people in need. The university hopes that the initiative will help students gain valuable experiences beyond the classroom and prepare them to take up greater responsibilities in their personal and professional lives.
