Odisha Achieves 99% Coverage in Electoral Roll Revision Drive; Digitisation Efforts Underway

Bhubaneswar, June 16: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha has reached a key milestone, with enumeration forms distributed to 99.14 per cent of voters across the state, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha.

The large-scale exercise, undertaken as part of the Election Commission of India’s initiative to ensure accurate, updated and error-free electoral rolls, is being carried out through extensive door-to-door verification, collection and digitisation of voter data.

Official figures available till 6 PM on June 15 indicate that enumeration forms have been distributed to 3,31,13,184 voters, covering 99.14 per cent of the electorate. With the distribution phase nearing completion, authorities have now intensified efforts to accelerate the digitisation of voter records.

So far, digitisation has been completed for 1,43,16,029 voters, accounting for 42.86 per cent of the total electorate. Officials said the process is being expedited to meet the prescribed timeline.

The revision exercise aims to strengthen the integrity of the electoral database by identifying and removing duplicate, deceased, and shifted voters. Following completion of digitisation and verification, a final revised electoral roll will be published.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been directed to complete the remaining work within the stipulated deadline. The Election Commission of India has set June 28, 2026, as the target date for completing the distribution, collection, and digitisation of enumeration forms.

The Office of the CEO has urged all eligible voters to cooperate with field officials during door-to-door verification and ensure timely submission of completed forms.

Authorities also cautioned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe may lead to verification-related action under electoral rules governing inclusion in the voter list. Citizens have been encouraged to complete the process at the earliest.
