Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will undertake an aerial survey of the state’s flood-hit regions on Saturday to review the flood situation and assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains and overflowing rivers.
The aerial inspection is scheduled to commence at 10 am and will cover some of the worst-affected districts, including Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Keonjhar. The survey is aimed at providing the Chief Minister with a comprehensive assessment of the flood impact, which will guide the government’s ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.
During the visit, Majhi is expected to evaluate the extent of inundation, review damage to public infrastructure, agricultural fields and residential areas, and examine conditions in vulnerable villages that continue to face the brunt of the flooding.
The Chief Minister will be accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, along with senior officials overseeing flood management and disaster response.
Officials said the assessment will help the state government determine the immediate requirements for relief distribution, restoration of essential services and rehabilitation of affected families.
Preliminary estimates indicate that around 1,000 houses have been damaged in the floods, while nearly 21,000 hectares of agricultural land have been affected across the state. Authorities are continuing rescue, relief and damage assessment operations in the impacted districts as water levels in several rivers remain under close watch.
The state government has intensified its response in the affected regions, with officials monitoring the situation round the clock to ensure timely assistance reaches flood-affected communities.
