Koraput, Aug. 6 (UDN): In a successful month-long operation, Odisha Police recovered 110 lost and stolen mobile phones in Koraput district with the help of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and returned them to their rightful owners on Wednesday.

The recovery drive was carried out by four police stations under the Jeypore Sub-Division following complaints lodged by mobile phone users. Acting on these reports, police tracked the devices from different locations and completed the recovery process before handing them back to the owners.
Among the recovered devices, Jeypore Police Station accounted for 50 mobile phones, while Borigumma Police Station recovered 25. The remaining handsets were traced by other police stations within the sub-division.
Speaking about the operation, Jeypore SDPO Archita Mittal explained that the CEIR portal enables users to report stolen mobile phones by submitting their device details online. If the stolen handset is later used with a new SIM card, the system alerts the police, allowing investigators to trace its location and recover it.
The initiative brought smiles to many residents who were reunited with their lost devices. Police also encouraged the public to promptly report missing or stolen mobile phones through the CEIR portal, as timely reporting significantly improves the chances of recovery.
