Malkangiri, Mar, 25:: Sujata Nayak, Member of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, visited Malkangiri district and reviewed issues related to child protection and child rights.
On this occasion, she emphasized the need to make the district completely free from child marriage. As Malkangiri is a tribal-dominated district, a special action plan is being prepared to prevent child trafficking, school dropouts, child marriage, and child abuse.
Mrs. Nayak stated that steps will be taken to monitor child malnutrition and ensure the safety of children of migrant laborers. She also stressed that efforts under the Mission Vatsalya scheme would be accelerated for the welfare of orphaned children. Considering that children are increasingly using the internet in modern times, she highlighted the need to create awareness about digital safety among them.
During her visit, she inspected Malkangiri Adarsha Police Station, the Paribartan Child Care Home, and the Special Adoption Agency to review child care and security arrangements.
The review meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Somanath Pradhan, Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Samyukta Pradhan, District Child Protection Officer Narayan Das, and officials and staff from various departments and organizations involved in child protection work.
It is hoped that this visit will significantly contribute to building a safe and bright future for the children of Malkangiri.
