Over 300 CCTV cameras deployed in Puri for Snana Yatra 2026 security and crowd management

Puri, June 2026 (UDN): Extensive security and traffic arrangements have been implemented in Puri ahead of the Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His Siblings at Shree Jagannath Temple. Authorities have deployed a large-scale surveillance system and introduced strict vehicular restrictions to ensure smooth conduct of the annual ritual.

According to Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh, a detailed traffic management plan has been put in place to handle the expected large influx of devotees.

As part of the arrangement, vehicles arriving from Bhubaneswar will be parked at Market Chhak, while visitors heading to the sea beach are advised to use parking at Digabareni. Buses will be regulated at designated points, including Malatipatapur for long-distance buses, Saradhabali for city buses, and Talabania for tourist vehicles.

Vehicular movement on roads leading to the Shree Jagannath Temple has been restricted. Devotees will enter through the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) and exit via the North Gate to ensure smooth crowd flow.

For enhanced security, the entire Bada Danda (Grand Road) and temple area are under continuous CCTV surveillance. Authorities have installed over 300 CCTV cameras, including 52 inside the temple, 250 in surrounding areas, and additional cameras at key sensitive locations across Puri.

Officials said these measures aim to ensure safety, crowd control, and smooth conduct of the sacred Snana Yatra, which attracts lakhs of devotees every year.
