Papadahandi, June 12:: On the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5), CRCC Babulal Sagar of Papadahandi Block was awarded the “Nature Friend Award” for his long-standing contributions to environmental protection, tree plantation, and public awareness activities.
In a district-level program held on this occasion, he received the certificate and honour in the presence of District Collector Maheshwar Swain. Babulal Sagar is known not only as an educationist but also as an active environmental enthusiast. He has been continuously working towards building a greener environment through tree plantation drives in schools, temple premises, public places, and rural areas.
Through various awareness programmes, songs, poems, and motivational speeches, he has been inspiring students, teachers, and the general public to develop a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection.
In his speech, he said: “If a person plants a tree, it is not just a tree; it secures the future of many lives. Trees provide us oxygen, shade, food, and a healthy environment. Therefore, every citizen’s duty is to plant at least one tree and take care of it.”
His major contributions include regular tree plantation activities in schools and temple premises, creating awareness among students about trees and responsibility, organizing awareness meetings and rallies on environmental protection, and spreading environmental education through songs, stories, and motivational speeches. He also actively promotes campaigns such as “I will plant trees, I will save the environment.”
At present, rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, climate change, and environmental pollution have become major challenges for human society. Tree plantation is the simplest and most effective solution to address these issues. If every individual plants and protects trees in their home, school, village, and workplace, a healthy, green, and beautiful environment can be created.
The “Nature Friend Award” received by Babulal Sagar is not only a personal achievement but also a matter of pride and inspiration for Papadahandi Block. His efforts will motivate others to come forward for environmental protection.
