Paradip Set to Become India’s New Energy Hub with IOCL’s Mega Investment

Bhubaneswar, July 31 (UDN): Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has announced a major investment of around Rs 43,359 crore in Paradip, Odisha, strengthening India’s energy infrastructure and accelerating the growth of the country’s petrochemical sector.

The investment is expected to transform Paradip into a leading integrated energy and petrochemical hub, supporting India’s long-term goals of enhancing domestic production capacity, reducing import dependence, and strengthening energy security.

IOCL said its projects in Paradip will create employment opportunities for more than 12,500 people in the region, while also generating growth opportunities for local industries, businesses, and allied sectors.

Located strategically along India’s eastern coastline, Paradip’s expanding energy ecosystem is expected to play an important role in meeting the country’s rising demand for fuel, petrochemicals, and industrial products. The development will also improve supply chain efficiency due to the region’s strong port connectivity.

The investment will support the expansion of refining and petrochemical capabilities, encouraging value-added manufacturing and contributing to India’s vision of becoming a globally competitive industrial economy.

Beyond economic growth, the projects are expected to benefit local communities through job creation, infrastructure development, and increased opportunities for small and medium enterprises linked to the energy sector.

IOCL’s continued focus on Paradip highlights the government and industry’s efforts to build modern energy hubs that support economic development, self-reliance, and sustainable industrial growth.

With these investments, Paradip is set to emerge as a key driver of Odisha’s industrial transformation and a significant contributor to India’s energy future.
