Victoria, June 29 {UDN}: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Seychelles’ highest civilian honour, the “Guardian of the Blue Horizon,” by President Dr. Patrick Herminie during his three-day State Visit. The prestigious award recognizes PM Modi’s leadership in environmental conservation, sustainable development, and efforts to strengthen global cooperation. He also attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day.
During delegation-level talks in Victoria, the two leaders witnessed the exchange of nine Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at deepening cooperation across multiple sectors. The agreements focus on maritime security, defence collaboration under Vision MAHASAGAR, health, agriculture, finance, and space cooperation.
A $175 million special economic package was also highlighted to support development initiatives in Seychelles, including social housing, e-mobility, and infrastructure projects, further reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the two nations. The visit is expected to strengthen strategic ties and expand cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
