The damage to the track was detected during a night-time inspection involving a DMU train. The issue came to light after the Puri–Bangiriposi Superfast Express had reached Bangiriposi the previous day.

Following the detection, railway authorities immediately alerted the maintenance team and launched restoration work. Railway personnel have reportedly been stationed at the site since midnight and are working to repair the damaged stretch.

The continuous rainfall has also caused the soil beneath the railway line to weaken and sink further, raising concerns about the stability of the track. Local residents said a potentially serious accident could have occurred had the problem not been detected in time.

Railway officials are carrying out detailed inspections of the affected stretch along with repair and strengthening work. Train operations on the route will remain suspended until the track is fully restored and certified safe for movement.

Passengers have been advised to remain alert and check with railway authorities for updated information regarding train operations on the affected route.
