Kotpad,Sept 11 [UDN}:: The Kotpad Teachers’ Association observed Teachers’ Day with a special programme organised at the association office. The event highlighted the important role of teachers in shaping society and the need for greater government attention towards resolving the issues and concerns faced by teachers.
During the programme, speakers expressed the view that the government should take appropriate and effective steps to ensure justice for teachers and address their longstanding demands. They also emphasised that honouring teachers who have retired before Teachers’ Day is one of the finest ways of expressing respect and gratitude towards the teaching community.
As part of the celebration, several retired teachers and women teachers were felicitated for their valuable contribution to the field of education and their dedicated service to students and society. Those honoured included Dharma Rao, Minati Biswal, Bidyut Kalpana Dhanphul, Sunita Dalai, Atulya Muduli, Gangadhar Tripathy, Santosh Kumar Padhi, Mahendra Kumar Pradhani and Chandramani Nayak, among others.
The programme was presided over by Teachers’ Association president Dhiraj Bhatra. Legal adviser Pankaj Kumar Patra, adviser Ganesh Chandra Panda, Mohan Nayak, Prashant Sahu, secretary Somanath Amanatya, and treasurer Anil Padhi were present on the dais as guests and office-bearers. They spoke about the significance of Teachers’ Day and the invaluable contribution made by teachers to the development of students and the wider community.
The speakers noted that teachers not only impart academic knowledge but also play a crucial role in building character, discipline, values and responsible citizenship among young people. They stressed that society must continue to recognise and appreciate the dedication of teachers, including those who have completed their professional careers.
Pankaj Mahanti conducted the programme, while Sunita Nayak extended cooperation in its organisation. The event concluded with appreciation for the retired teachers and recognition of their years of dedicated service to education.
